In addition to using lab reports and clinical examination, both Dr. Marie and Dr. Jesse further employ the use of an assessment technique known as Auricular Medicine. This technique uses the ear as a medium to facilitate healing. This elegant and highly sophisticated assessment technique was developed in the 1950’s by Dr. Paul Nogier, a French neurologist.
The external ear is highly enervated tissue. It has reflex areas or “zones” which represent all organs, glands and tissues in the body. Each reflex area connects with the body through the brain, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. This reflex area allows the ear to be used for the detection of imbalances in the body.
These imbalances represent issues that impede the body’s ability to heal and regulate itself; therefore, they are referred to as being “blockages to healing”. They are uncovered in the reverse order in which they have developed in the body, meaning that current or more superficial issues will be found first. As treatment progresses, the root cause of an individual’s health problems can be found and addressed.
Auricular medicine is an energetic reflex technique that uses the patient’s pulse and energetic filters to detect blockages in the body. These filters can detect treatable points in the ear or medicines that will work to clear these blockages. Detectable points that are identified on the ear represent the location of specific imbalances within the body. It allows for the identification and effective treatment of the cause of a person’s health concerns — not just the symptoms.
Auricular Medicine corrects imbalances by stimulating the body’s own healing process. This assessment technique measures changes in the electro-magnetic field of the body. When micro stimuli are applied to the body, the response of the electro-magnetic field can be measured by monitoring the radial pulse in the wrist. The electromagnetic field will either expand or contract in response to the stimuli, which may represent an organ, a medicine or some other substance depending upon the intent of the practitioner.
Naturopathic doctors use herbs from Europe, the Americas, Africa, China and India to prevent and alleviate illness. Herbs work in two ways: First, they nourish your body with essential vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fatty acids, phytochemicals and antioxidants; also, herbs help your body release toxins that can build up and cause illness. As natural medicines, herbs are relatively inexpensive, accessible, gentle and easily absorbed by our bodies.
Drainage is a process by which remedies are used to improve the function of specific organs, tissues or glands and to stimulate these tissues to eliminate or excrete the toxins that they hold. This opens up the excretory channels and facilitates a cleansing effect on a cellular level. By addressing the cellular imbalances within the body, all body functions are improved. The goal of drainage is to restore cells and therefore our organs, glands and tissues to their optimum function. Optimum function equals optimum health. Specifically formulated drainage remedies, which have an affinity for specific organs, glands and tissues, are used to stimulate and encourage the release of waste material.
Nutrition is the cornerstone of good health. Like medicines and drugs, foods affect the way your body functions. Some foods help you heal, while others damage your body and contribute to chronic illness. A healthy diet — consisting of the right balance of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytochemicals, antioxidants, fatty acids, fiber and amino acids –- is the most important tool your body can use to manage stress, and prevent and recover from illness.
Using diluted doses of natural substances, homeopathy gently stimulates your immune system and rebalances your body and mind. While conventional medicines often cover symptoms, homeopathy relieves your symptoms by correcting their root cause. Since the causes of your symptoms are unique to you, we will examine the cause of your pain or illness before prescribing the right homeopathic remedy.
To achieve the best results from your naturopathic treatment, you need to understand and practice the principles of healthy living. By helping you identify and adjust the habits that contribute to ill health, we will help you maintain wellness over the long term. Food sensitivity testing may be a complimentary method of determining what, within ones diet, may be contributing to dysregulation within the body.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) originated in ancient China and has evolved over thousands of years. Practitioners of TCM use herbal medicines and various mind and body practices to treat or prevent health problems. The style, dating back more than 2,000 years, encompasses many different practices, including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, dietary therapy, tai chi and qi gong.
TCM is based on the following ancient beliefs.
Low Dose Immunotherapy (LDI) and Low Dose Allergens (LDA) are essentially the same therapeutic technique to be administered by your doctor, but for two distinct types of ailments. The technique works to restore your immune system’s TOLERANCE of either, as in the case of LDA - a broad array of allergies or, as in the case of LDI – a particular antigen that may be at the heart of your disease state. In both cases, the process of desensitization can greatly diminish or in some cases completely eliminate symptoms if we can identify the correct trigger. Administration of this technique is very much a learned art rather than a “one-size fits all” type of solution.
Developed by Dr. Leonard McEwen in the 1960’s, the original form of the technique was called EPD (Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization). He postulated that a cure, in a strict bacteriological sense, may not be necessary. Humans harbor many potentially pathogenic bugs in our system, but they do not make us ill because their numbers and strength are below the threshold of our immunity’s defenses. The theory behind using LDI for autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue/pain conditions and many other ongoing inflammatory disorders, is that while these conditions/symptoms are initially triggered by a foreign antigen (i.e. something that is not “you”) and responded to properly by your immune system; the chronic nature of the condition may well be the result of your own immune system ceasing to fight, and itself being the cause of tissue inflammation and potential damage in some way. If we can find the right trigger and restore immune system tolerance, we can stop your disease process. Similarly with all types of allergies, sensitivities and intolerances one may have to pollens, dust, mites or danders, for instance, the LDA process can desensitize an otherwise overly powerful and ongoing response by your immune system.
LDA is specifically used to treat seasonal and perennial hay fever, asthma, eczema, all types of food allergies and many other conditions, including:
Types of antigens used:
LDI treats many conditions including:
Types of antigens used:
Procedure: Involves sublingual (under the tongue) deliveryof small amounts of fluid containing relevant antigens and a proportional amount of the enzyme needed.
Antigens: Are all dead and can include bacteria, fungi, virus, parasites, foods, chemicals and plants.
Doses: Are so small (less than a drop of water) they have never resulted in life-threatening reactions. The antigens are diluted often a trillion to one or further and they are sterilized.
Frequency: Depends upon response. Typically first 6 doses are every 7-8 weeks.
Long Term: Doses are spaced further as benefits last longer. Some can even stop.
Cost: Each dose (antigens in the needle) is $45
