LDA & LDI Therapy for Immune System Desensitization

LDA & LDI Therapy for Immune System Desensitization

Low Dose Immunotherapy (LDI) and Low Dose Allergens (LDA) are essentially the same therapeutic technique to be administered by your doctor, but for two distinct types of ailments.  The technique works to restore your immune system’s TOLERANCE of either, as in the case of LDA - a broad array of allergies or, as in the case of LDI – a particular antigen that may be at the heart of your disease state.  In both cases, the process of desensitization can greatly diminish or in some cases completely eliminate symptoms if we can identify the correct trigger.  Administration of this technique is very much a learned art rather than a “one-size fits all” type of solution.

Developed by Dr. Leonard McEwen in the 1960’s, the original form of the technique was called EPD (Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization).  He postulated that a cure, in a strict bacteriological sense, may not be necessary.  Humans harbor many potentially pathogenic bugs in our system, but they do not make us ill because their numbers and strength are below the threshold of our immunity’s defenses.  The theory behind using LDI for autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue/pain conditions and many other ongoing inflammatory disorders, is that while these conditions/symptoms are initially triggered by a foreign antigen (i.e. something that is not “you”) and responded to properly by your immune system; the chronic nature of the condition may well be the result of your own immune system ceasing to fight, and itself being the cause of tissue inflammation and potential damage in some way.  If we can find the right trigger and restore immune system tolerance, we can stop your disease process.  Similarly with all types of allergies, sensitivities and intolerances one may have to pollens, dust, mites or danders, for instance, the LDA process can desensitize an otherwise overly powerful and ongoing response by your immune system.

LDA is specifically used to treat seasonal and perennial hay fever, asthma, eczema, all types of food allergies and many other conditions, including:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Autism Spectrum, ADD and ADHD
  • Tourette’s, Raynaud’s
  • IBS, Inflammatory Bowel (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Chronic ear infections, Tonsillitis
  • Chronic Yeast, Vaginitis
  • Dermatitis, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea
  • Asthma, Pharyngitis, Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis, Re-current Strep, Behcet’s
  • PANDA’s, PANS
  • Food triggered Headaches and Migraines
  • Autoimmune Diseases: Inflammatory Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Interstitial cystitis,
    Hashimoto’s, Lupus, Sjogren’s
  • Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Endometriosis, Lyme Disease (LDI), Chronic joint and muscle pain, Nephritic
    Syndrome

Types of antigens used:

  1. Inhalants: inhaled pollens (grass, trees etc….), animal danders, dust and mites, insects, fungi, yeast including candida
    species and molds.
  2. Foods: (300 foods included) and food additives
  3. Chemicals: containing most common chemicals and scents, formaldehyde and detergents, except for pesticides and
    herbicides.
  4. Woods: (a mixture of over 90 common and exotic woods), used for the treatment of contact skin sensitivity often
    experienced by woodworkers.
  5. Dental Mix: a mixture of many sealants, ceramics, dental tool, gloves, etc……

LDI treats many conditions including:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Autism Spectrum, ADD and ADHD
  • Tourette’s, Raynaud’s Syndrome
  • IBS, Inflammatory Bowel (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Chronic Yeast, Vaginitis
  • Dermatitis, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea
  • Asthma, Pharyngitis, Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis, re-current Strep
  • PANDA’s, PANS, Sarcoidosis
  • Autoimmune Diseases: Inflammatory Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Interstitial cystitis,
    Hashimoto’s, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Behcet’s
  • Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Endometriosis, Lyme Disease, Chronic joint and muscle pain, Nephritic
    Syndrome, ALS

Types of antigens used:

  • Mycobacteria
  • Lyme & co-infections altogether
  • Lyme & co-infections altogether broken apart in separate vials (Borrelia, Babesia, Bartonella, Ehrlichia/Coxsiella)
  • Yeast
  • Varicella
  • Chlamydia/Mycoplasma
  • HSV 1 &2
  • Anaplasma
  • Parasite Mix
  • CMV
  • EBV (mono)
  • SF-B (bacteria induced acne), SF-F (fungal induced acne)
  • HHV-6
  • Myelin Basic Protein (for MS)
  • Strep

Procedure:  Involves sublingual (under the tongue) deliveryof small amounts of fluid containing relevant antigens and a proportional amount of the enzyme needed.
Antigens:  Are all dead and can include bacteria, fungi, virus, parasites, foods, chemicals and plants.
Doses:  Are so small (less than a drop of water) they have never resulted in life-threatening reactions.  The antigens are diluted often a trillion to one or further and they are sterilized.
Frequency:  Depends upon response.  Typically first 6 doses are every 7-8 weeks.
Long Term:  Doses are spaced further as benefits last longer.  Some can even stop.
Cost: Each dose (antigens in the needle) is $45
